Offline tracking tags
An offline tracking tag is a special type of tracking tag used in The Trade Desk platform to attribute offline conversions—events that take place outside the digital ad ecosystem, such as in-store purchases or CRM-recorded actions—to specific ad campaigns.
You can create these tags in OpenTTD: see Using the offline tracking tags app.
Ways to create an offline tracking tag
There are two ways to create tracking tags that you can use in the offline conversion information you upload to The Trade Desk:
On the OpenTTD Offline Tracking Tags app. For details, see Create a tracking tag in the app.
By using the Platform API. For details, see POST /v3/offlinetrackingtag.
IMPORTANT: Authentication is required for using the Platform API. If you don't have the access you need, ask your Technical Account Manager for assistance.
Using the offline tracking tags app
To add tracking tags using the Offline Tracking Tags app in OpenTTD, you'll need to have the following:
Access to The Trade Desk platform
Access to the Offline Tracking Tags app (an additional permission)
The applicable advertiser ID
The applicable data provider ID
In this app, you can do the following:
- View existing tracking tags.
- Create a new tracking tag: see Create a tracking tag in the app.
Create a tracking tag in the app
To create a new tag in the Offline Tracking Tags app, follow these steps:
Go to the Offline Tracking Tags page:
- For advertisers. Navigation: Advertiser > App management > Tracking Tags.
- For providers. Navigation: Provider > App management > Tracking Tags.
Click Add Tracking Tag.
Provide the following required values:
Tracking Tag Name. Choose an intuitive name that you'll easily be able to find on the list of tracking tags.
Advertiser ID: The ID for the advertiser whose data the tracking tag applies to.
Provider ID: The ID for the data provider whose data the tracking tag applies to.
NOTE: If you're using the Snowflake Native App to create a relationship with a specific data provider, ask your Technical Account Manager to make sure you have access to the data provider before creating a pairing in the Snowflake Native App (Configure the native app, Step 3).
Click Save.
The tracking tag is added to the list.
If you're using the Snowflake Native App, and pair with the advertiser or data provider, the new tag also appears on the Tracking Tags list in your Snowflake Native App instance: see The Trade Desk connector native app: Tracking tags.
