REDS feeds

The following sections briefly describe the contents of the Raw event data stream (REDS) feeds. To view examples of stream data and events, download the REDS sample data file.

REDS primary events

Events within REDS are separated into four main streams by type as listed in the following table.

Event Type Schema Version Description
Impressions 3-0-0 Information about won impression events.
Clicks 2-0-0 Information about click events.
Conversions 2-0-0 Unprocessed conversion data recording events that were and were not attributed to paid media.
Video events 2-0-0 Post-impression event information relating to viewability, audio, and video metrics.
GDPR consent TBD The GDPR Consent stream is a separate feed that supplies the GDPR consent strings passed as part of events recorded in other streams to help inform data processing. Here's what you need to know:
  • The consent strings found in the GDPR consent stream are linkable to events in other streams through a common impression ID.
  • This stream is automatically enabled for all event streams with the Pass-Through processing preference and is optional for the rest.
  • To enable the GDPR consent stream, contact your Technical Account Manager.
For data scrubbing and retention details, see REDS data practices.

  • 1-0-0
Third-party post-impression event information relating only to viewability metrics. If you have Post-Bid Viewability Reporting enabled on the platform, your Technical Account Manager can enable the Viewability Feeds for the providers you support. For details, see Post-bid viewability in the Knowledge Portal.
IMPORTANT: These feeds update roughly every 12 hours and are currently available only through Amazon S3.

The primary stream feeds are accessible via Snowflake and Amazon S3.

Call example

Here is an example of a call to retrieve the column definition for a partner's Video event stream:

curl -H "Content-Type: application/json" -H "TTD-Auth:|TOKEN_PLACEHOLDER|" -X GET "https://api.thetradedesk.com/v3/reds/video/columns"

FAQs

The following is a list of commonly asked questions about data available in REDS Feeds.

Can I use REDS to get the name of the supply vendor?

No, the supply vendor name is not available in the REDS file. However, you can use the Entity-ID-to-name mapping feed to get a list of names and their respective entity ID, which includes the mapping of SupplyVendorID to SupplyVendorPublisherName.

Do custom categories appear in REDS?

No, custom categories do not currently appear in REDS. For custom category reporting, use User-defined reports to create a recurring report that returns custom category IDs.

Can I use Snowflake to access the viewability feeds?

Not at this time. Viewability Feeds are available only through Amazon S3. However, we plan on making these feeds available through Snowflake soon. Stay tuned for when we make this announcement in our release notes!
