Third-Party Segments Dashboard
The Segments Dashboard enables you, as a data partner, to create, update, and manage your data offerings without relying on a Technical Account Manager. Use this dashboard to organize and export your taxonomy and pricing, as well as identify which segments are taxonomy compliant, buyable, and available to advertisers. You can also access detailed segment information (full name, description, received ID, active IDs). If you have permission, you can directly upload segments and update rates and advertiser access permissions in the dashboard.
Here's what you need to know about the Segments Dashboard:
- The create and update features are available exclusively on OpenTTD, not Partner Portal.
- For insights and troubleshooting, use the dashboard first. For additional support, see FAQs.
- To learn more about segments and rates, see Third-party audience data segments and rates.
Using the Segments Dashboard
The Segments Dashboard provides a centralized view of all your data segments, along with tools to search, filter, and export your data. This section covers how to access the dashboard and locate its key features.
Access
Here's what you need to know about accessing the Segments Dashboard:
- To get proper access permissions, see Getting started for audience data providers. For details on activating your API login, resetting the password, and other details, see FAQs.
- Sub-providers integrated with The Trade Desk through onboarders (such as LiveRamp) can view their segments and rates directly through the Segments Dashboard UI and API. For login access as a sub-provider, contact your Technical Account Manager.
To log in to the Segments Dashboard, complete the following steps:
- Log into OpenTTD.
- At the bottom-left corner of the navigation panel, click App Management.
- In the Embedded Apps section, click Segments Dashboard.
Your Segments Dashboard appears with segments displayed in a tabular view where you can access, search, filter, and export your data. The table includes all segments, regardless of whether rates are assigned to them.
Search, filter, and export your data
To better analyze your data, use the different filtering and search options provided in the Segments Dashboard data table. These tools can help you answer the following questions:
- What segments are included in my taxonomy, and what are their compliance statuses and pricing?
- Which segments are part of my system taxonomy, and which are custom for advertisers?
- What are the details of my segments, such as name, full path, description, and user counts?
- Which advertisers can access my segments?
- Which segments are no longer available to advertisers?
The following image of the dashboard labels commonly used controls.

Manage data rates and buyer access
NOTE: This feature requires access and write permissions. If you can't access it, see this FAQ.
To update pricing and meet advertiser and business needs, you can make edits in the Segments Dashboard. The following are key actions you can take:
- Enter data rates for selected segments. Specifically, you can do the following:
- Submit multiple rate updates in batches (in bulk) for a brand, or adjust them individually.
- Grant partners and advertisers access to your full taxonomy or specific segments.
- Track the status of your rate change requests.
Enter rates
TIP: To safely try out the rate editing workflow without affecting live data, use the Segments Dashboard sandbox environment.
If you have write access, you can enter rates and grant partners and advertisers access to view your full taxonomy or specific segments. Here's what you need to know about updating the dashboard:
- When setting partner or advertiser rate levels, you need to enter the partner or advertiser IDs.
- You can enter rates in bulk if you are applying the same rate to the selected segments.
- Only hybrid pricing is supported.
NOTE: Hybrid pricing is a percentage of media cost with a CPM cap amount in the specified currency. For details, see the third-party data rate endpoint.
To enter rates, complete the following steps:
In the dashboard, select the checkboxes next to the segments you want to update the rates for.
In the banner, click Input New Rates.
On the Input New Rates page, in Brand ID, enter the ID of the brand to update data rates.
Under Rate Level, select one of the following options: System, Partner, or Advertiser.
If you set the rate level to Partner or Advertiser, an additional field appears for providing partner or advertiser access to the segment. Enter the appropriate IDs in the field, separated by commas. You can enter up to 100 IDs at a time. For example: 23345, 24789, 98763.
Enter the hybrid pricing values either for individual selected segments or, if applying in bulk, in the row before the Selected Segments table:
a. In the % of Media field, enter the desired percentage of media cost. For example, enter 12 for 12% of media cost.
b. In the CPM (CAP) field, enter the flat CPM fee in the specified currency.
c. If applying the same rate in bulk, click Apply Bulk Price.
Click Submit.
The Rate Change Requests page appears with a message confirming your rate change submission. Its batch ID is listed in the Batch ID column of the table on the Rate change requests page.
View rate change requests
To view the Rate Change Requests page, at the top-right corner of the dashboard, click Go to Rate Change Requests. The following image shows the Rate Change Requests page.
Here you can review your recent requests and their processing and approval statuses. These requests may include those made through API calls, but due to call size, their provider element ID may be truncated. You can use filters to display the segments based on their statuses.
To return to the dashboard, at the top-right corner of the page, click Go to Segments Dashboard.

The following is a list of frequently asked questions about the Segments Dashboard.
Can partners and advertisers see this data?
No. The Segments Dashboard is available only to third-party data providers.
What's a "physical rate"?
In taxonomies with rate inheritance, the term "physical rate" refers to rates directly assigned to segments, as opposed to rates inherited from parent segments.
How do I look up all segments with system rates if I want to update them across the board?
Set the following filters:
- Rate Level: System
- Is Inherited: No
How do I look up all segments with custom rates if I want to update them?
Custom rates are partner- and advertiser-level rates used in custom taxonomies. To find all segments with custom rates, do the following:
- Set the following filters:
- Rate Level: Partner
- Is Inherited: No
- Rate Level: Partner
- At the top-right, click Export CSV and save the file.
- Repeat the previous steps but with the rate level set to Advertiser.
- (Optional) Combine the exported files, if needed.
How can I view only my syndicated taxonomy data?
In the Rate Level dropdown menu, select System.
How can I view all segments for a specific partner or advertiser?
Look up the ID or name of the advertiser or partner.
How can I check if a system rate level segment is discounted for a given partner or advertiser?
To check if the system rate is discounted, do the following:
- In the Rate Level dropdown menu, select All.
- Search for the provider element ID of the desired segment.
- Check the Rate Level column. If it has System displayed, the rate is discounted.
What is taxonomy compliance?
Taxonomy compliance is the step of verifying that a segment’s display name and description follow The Trade Desk’s approved naming rules that prohibit the use of sensitive terms, while still accurately representing the underlying data and maintaining contract compliance. For details and compliance status value descriptions, see Check data change status.
When should I check the taxonomy compliance status of my data segments after creating them?
Check the taxonomy compliance status of your data segment anytime. Status updates to Approved or Denied occur about two hours after submission. If further review is needed, the status may remain in Pending and your segment will not appear in the DMP until processing is complete.
When does a third-party data segment become visible in the DMP?
A third-party data segment appears in the DMP when it meets the following requirements:
- Has an
ApprovedorNotInQueuetaxonomy compliance status. - Receives more than 1000 unique devices/browsers or more than 10 active device/browsers. For details, see Unique ID counting methodologies.
- Has its
Buyablefield set to true. For details, see Third-party data taxonomy design. - Has a rate assigned to specify which buyers can see the segment.
For details, see Check data change status.
How do I activate my API login?
After receiving the "Welcome to The Trade Desk!" email from platformnoreply@thetradedesk.com, click the Activate Account button in the message and follow the instructions to set up your API login password and access the Segments Dashboard.
NOTE: The activation email expires in seven days. If you need the email resent, contact your Technical Account Manager.
Why do I get "Access Denied" error when trying to log in to the Platform UI?
Partner Portal logins are typically restricted to the Partner Portal and API. If you try to access the Platform UI with this login type, you will receive an "Access Denied" message.
How do I get permission to edit data rates in the Segments Dashboard?
Editing data rates needs special permissions from The Trade Desk. If you're not integrated directly with The Trade Desk and use an onboarder for your taxonomy, all your users initially have read access only. To update segment names, descriptions, and rates, contact your onboarder.
If you don't use an onboarder and want to edit data rates, email ttd-audiencepartners@thetradedesk.com.
For brands operating with block or allow lists, how can I view and update these lists?
If you have customized access to your third-party data, you can view and edit your list through either of these options:
NOTE: The links in this FAQ require access permissions. If you cannot view them, contact your Technical Account Manager.
- Segments Dashboard Ui for block and allow lists
- Data access management API for block and allow lists
How do I reset the password after activation?
To reset your Partner Portal login password, click the "Can't access your account?" link on Partner Portal login page, and follow the instructions. After resetting, log in from the Partner Portal homepage to access the Segments Dashboard.
NOTE: Partner Portal logins do not give data partners access to the Platform UI.
I've tried troubleshooting and gathering insights in the Segment Dashboard but need more help. Who can I contact?
Email ttd-audiencepartners@thetradedesk.com or a primary contact if one is available to you.
