Seller Sandbox

The Seller Sandbox is an isolated environment for testing the PDP API endpoints without impacting your production data or billing cycle. It's made by a soft clone of your production data that refreshes on a regular basis, so you can try out different strategies and see how they impact your audience. You can start interacting with the sandbox by switching the root URL to match the corresponding endpoint.

NOTE: The Seller Sandbox is available only for the PDP API endpoints.

Here's what you need to know about the Seller Sandbox testing environment:

Seller Sandbox endpoints

If you currently have an existing UI or API login in the production environment, an account already exists in the Seller Sandbox. Recently created accounts might not be available in the Seller Sandbox until the next refresh.

IMPORTANT: Seller Sandbox mirrors your production environment, so the sandbox accepts your production key, but a better security practice is to generate a sandbox-only key. To create a request, use the corresponding endpoint and root URL combination.

The following table shows the root URLs to access the PDP API hosted on Seller Sandbox.

Endpoints Root URL Description
Deals https://ext-api-openpath.sb.thetradedesk.com/deals/graphql The root URL to create and manage deals.
Provisioning https://ext-api-openpath.sb.thetradedesk.com/provisioning/graphql The root URL to view information shared on The Trade Desk platform.

FAQs

What are some best practices to run Sandbox tests?

You may want to include logic to recreate any test objects in Sandbox, before trying to run subsequent workflow tests.

TIP: To return errors in a mutation response, include an errors field at the end of your mutation and pass the MutationError object. For details, see Mutation errors in our GraphQL API Resource Hub.
